Split PDF

How to split a PDF by choosing the pages you need

Splitting is most reliable when you define the pages by their visible content rather than guessing from a filename. PDFmint's Split workspace creates one new PDF containing the selected source pages in their original order.

Define the section by content

Open the source in a normal reader and locate the first and last pages of the section you need. Printed page numbers inside a report may differ from the PDF viewer's page positions because covers and introductory pages are also counted.

Write down the viewer positions and note any individual pages that must be excluded. Keep the original PDF unchanged so you can correct the selection if necessary.

Select pages in Split PDF

Choose one PDF in the Split workspace. Page thumbnails appear so you can select them directly. Use the page-range control for a continuous range, or select and clear individual thumbnails when the required set is not continuous.

The selected pages remain in their original source order. Split is designed here to create one PDF from that selection; it does not promise a separate downloaded file for every page.

Steps

  1. Choose the source PDF and wait for all thumbnails to appear.
  2. Clear the default selection if you need only a small subset.
  3. Enter the required range or select the exact page thumbnails.
  4. Confirm the selected-page count and create the extracted PDF.

Verify context and completeness

Open the downloaded result and read at least the first and last extracted pages. A technically correct range can still omit a heading, continuation page, note, or signature that gives the section its meaning.

If the result will be used independently, confirm that it contains enough context for the recipient and that sharing those pages does not expose unrelated sensitive information.

Extraction checklist

  • The result begins and ends at the intended content.
  • All required continuation and signature pages are present.
  • The selected-page count matches the downloaded PDF.
  • No unrelated confidential page is included.

Temporary browser processing

In the current free service, the selected source is processed inside browser memory. Download the extracted copy before refreshing or closing the workspace because the source, thumbnails, and result are temporary.

The new PDF is a separate copy. The original remains where you selected it, and PDFmint does not replace or edit that source file.
