Page extraction

How to extract PDF pages into a new PDF

Extracting pages is useful when a large PDF contains only one section you need to send, print, or archive. Extract PDF Pages creates one new PDF from the selected pages while leaving the source document unchanged.

Plan the page range

Before choosing pages, decide what the recipient actually needs. A contract appendix, invoice section, class handout, or selected report pages may be easier to share as a smaller, focused PDF.

Write down the page numbers and include any context pages needed to understand the extract. A page with a table may need the preceding title page or note; a signature page may need the agreement page it belongs to.

Extraction steps

  1. Open the source and identify the exact pages to keep.
  2. Include context pages when they explain the selected section.
  3. Avoid extracting pages that remove required disclaimers or signatures.

Select pages in Extract PDF Pages

Choose the PDF and wait for the page previews. Select or clear pages directly, or use the range field for a sequence such as 2-5, 9. The visible selection and range stay synchronized before processing.

The result is one PDF containing the selected pages in the displayed page-number order. It does not create a separate file for each page and it does not change the original source document.

Extraction steps

  1. Choose the PDF in Extract PDF Pages.
  2. Select pages directly or enter a range.
  3. Confirm the selected count and output summary.
  4. Extract the pages and download the new PDF.

Review the extracted copy

Open the downloaded PDF and check the first and last page, page count, orientation, and readability. Confirm that every selected page is present once and that no unwanted page is included.

If the extracted copy will be sent externally, check whether headers, footers, page numbers, or references still make sense outside the source document. Add context or use the original document when a partial extract would confuse the recipient.

Review checks

  • The extracted PDF contains exactly the intended pages.
  • The selected pages appear in the expected order.
  • The copy still makes sense away from the source document.
  • The downloaded file is saved before closing the workspace.

Understand the temporary browser boundary

In the current free service, Extract PDF Pages processes the selected file inside browser memory and does not send it to a PDFmint processing route. The source, preview, selection, and result are temporary state in the current browser tab.

Download the extracted copy before closing or refreshing the page. If the extracted pages contain sensitive information, manage the downloaded file and the original PDF on your own device according to your sharing rules.

Review checks

  • The source document stays unchanged.
  • The extracted result is downloaded and named clearly.
  • Sensitive extracts are stored and shared intentionally.
  • No source PDF is emailed to PDFmint for support.
