How to fix sideways scanned PDF pages

A scanned PDF may contain one or more pages turned sideways even though the page order is correct. Rotate PDF is the right workspace when the only change needed is orientation, not reordering, deleting, or extracting pages.

Identify orientation-only problems

Use Rotate PDF when the scanned pages are in the right sequence but some pages face the wrong direction. Common examples include a landscape appendix, a phone scan saved sideways, or a scanner that rotated every other page.

If the document also contains blank pages, duplicates, or pages in the wrong position, start with Organize PDF instead. That lets you make structural changes in one deliberate pass rather than rotating first and reorganizing later.

Orientation checks

  • The page order is already correct.
  • Only orientation needs to change.
  • Pages that should stay landscape are not mistaken for errors.

Rotate the scanned pages

Choose the PDF and wait for the page previews. Rotate each sideways page until text, stamps, tables, and signatures are readable in the intended direction. Avoid rotating all pages unless the entire document has the same orientation problem.

The result keeps the displayed page order. Rotation changes how each chosen page opens in the new PDF, but it does not crop the page or rewrite the document text.

Rotation steps

  1. Open the PDF in Rotate PDF.
  2. Find each page that is sideways or upside down.
  3. Rotate only those pages until they read correctly.
  4. Download the rotated PDF after at least one page is corrected.

Check the rotated result

Open the downloaded result and inspect every page you rotated. Also check nearby pages because a table or attachment may have been intentionally landscape and should remain that way.

If a page still feels wrong, return to the source and rotate again rather than repeatedly editing downloaded copies. Keeping one source and one reviewed result makes version control easier.

Orientation checks

  • All corrected pages read in the intended direction.
  • Intentional landscape pages remain landscape.
  • The page count and order did not change.
  • The downloaded PDF is saved before closing the workspace.

Know what stays temporary

In the current free service, Rotate PDF processes the selected file inside browser memory and does not send it to a PDFmint processing route. The source PDF, previews, rotations, and result are temporary in the active browser tab.

Download the corrected PDF before closing or refreshing. If the document contains private information, review and store the result on your own device and do not email the source file to support.

Rotation steps

  1. Keep the original file available until the result is reviewed.
  2. Download the corrected PDF immediately.
  3. Share only the reviewed rotated copy.
