When to use Merge, Split, Extract, or Organize PDF
Merge, Split, Extract, and Organize all change how pages move into a final PDF, but they solve different problems. Choosing the right workspace first keeps the result cleaner and avoids rebuilding the same document several times.

Use Merge PDF for separate source documents
Choose Merge PDF when you have two or more PDFs that should become one document. Each source stays as a block, and the final reading order follows the order of the file cards in the workspace.
Merge is not the best first step when pages inside one source need to move. If a source PDF itself has the wrong internal order, organize that source first, download it, then merge the reviewed copy with other documents.
Decision steps
- Use Merge when the inputs are separate PDFs.
- Arrange file cards from first document to last document.
- Review the joins between documents after downloading.
Use Split or Extract for selected pages
Use Extract PDF Pages when one large PDF contains a smaller section that should become one new PDF. The selected pages stay in the displayed page-number order and the source remains unchanged.
Use Split PDF when the task is framed as selecting pages into a new PDF from the split workspace. Do not expect either workflow to create a separate file per page unless the interface explicitly says so.
Choice checks
- The source is one PDF.
- The result should contain selected pages only.
- The selected pages still make sense away from the source.
Use Organize, Delete, or Rotate for page-level cleanup
Use Organize PDF when the same document needs page reordering, rotation, or removal in one review pass. It is the broad page workspace for fixing structure before the PDF is shared.
Use Delete PDF Pages when the only task is removing unwanted pages while preserving the order of everything that remains. Use Rotate PDF when the only task is correcting orientation while preserving order.
Decision steps
- Use Organize when several page-level changes are needed.
- Use Delete when only unwanted pages should be removed.
- Use Rotate when only page orientation should change.
Review the result before moving on
Every page-workflow result should be opened after download. Check the cover, final page, page count, page order, orientation, and any extracted or removed section before sending the file or using it as input for another tool.
In the current free service, these browser tools process selected files inside browser memory and do not send them to a PDFmint processing route. Download each accepted result before closing or refreshing the workspace.
Choice checks
- The chosen workspace matches the actual task.
- The original source remains available until review is complete.
- The downloaded result has the expected pages and order.
- The reviewed result is saved before starting another operation.
